Letting Off Steam

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds,  because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.  That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”

James 1

I popped into our local Dunelm Mill store yesterday to pick up my online order. Unfortunately one of the items had the wrong barcode and wouldn’t process through the till.

The young shop assistant was very calm, helpful and apologetic. A small queue formed comprising of 2 mature female shoppers. Within  2 minutes the question was asked “is anyone else on the tills?” The assistant used her radio and summoned another staff member.

I counted silently to 10 before I said to the assistant, “I almost caused a scene then!” She looked puzzling at me. I continued “Well my wife waited 4 years to see her surgeon in Cardiff but before her appointment she’s ended up in ICU on life support following a brain haemorrhage and we’re all just waiting for her to wake up. Kinda puts it in perspective.
